iPhone Music Recognizer Can Now Sync History to Shazam

Your iPhone can do things you might not know regarding. For example, it can recognize any music playing around you without having to open any app. The Control Center option enables this feature. It’s called Music Recognition and it’s powered by Shazam, a music discovery app owned by Apple. Apple is improving this feature now. Music recognition can now sync with the latest Shazam app, as well as across Apple devices registered to the same ID. According to MacRumors, any iPhone with iOS 15 will now show you all the songs you’ve searched for using either the Shazam app or the music recognizer in Control Center. Music recognition was integrated into the iPhone ecosystem as part of iOS 14.2 in 2020, three years following Apple acquired Shazam. The integration was so seamless that it didn’t require the user to download the Shazam app, while still using their search engine to select a song. But while both Shazam and music recognition were allowing users to do the same thing, they fell short when it came to syncing data. However, the latest installment solves this problem. If you now ask Siri or use Music recognition in Control Center to find a song, you’ll be able to store it in Shazam, if it’s available on your iPhone, just so you can go to the app at any time later and view or archive it. There is another cool trick that you can do now that the new update is out. Tapping and holding the music recognizer in Control Center will bring up the full history of your song search. This includes searches performed using the music recognizer and Shazam. Your history is also synced between all of your Apple devices, provided they’re all signed in to the same Apple ID.

I use Shazam a lot because I’m always curious what this tune was playing in the bar. Previously, while I might find the searched melody in the music recognizer’s history, Shazam didn’t sync it. But it will be much easier now. I can already create a Shazam playlist of the songs I’ve searched for and it will sync to my Mac and iPad automatically.
