iPhone helps rescue 10 missing California hikers

A group of ten climbers who disappeared in a region known as “Last Chance”in Upper Ojai Canyon, California (United States), was rescued thanks to the Emergency SOS via satellite from the iPhone 14 line.

According to the CBS Newsthe work was carried out by the Ventura County Search and Rescue Team, who received a text message from the climbers containing crucial information, including an approximate location of where they were.

Alerted around 8pm on May 12th, the team said responded promptly to the distress call. Thirteen members embarked on a four-mile trek into the canyon.

O Santa Paula Canyon is a trail located in Ventura County (California) and is considered challenging, having approximately 10km extension. In addition to having an elevation gain, it presented terrain that was difficult for lost climbers to access.

After a search, the team found the climbers around 11:15 pm. Most of them, according to authorities, were unprepared for the trail. They were provided with essential supplies including food, clean water and lighting equipment.

Around 2:40 am, the rescue team and climbers arrived safely at the starting point of the trail. Fortunately, they didn’t need medical attention.
