iPhone 16 Pro should have a telephoto camera with 5x zoom, says Kuo

Although the standard iPhone 16 models do not deliver many changes, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that the iPhone 16 Pro variant will receive an important upgrade.

For him, Apple should make the same available tetraprism telephoto sensor with 5x optical zoom on the device. In other words, something that is currently exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Kuo says that the Cupertino company did not make this limitation for nothing in the current generation of iPhone. This is because the sensor requires more space and only the iPhone 15 Pro Max can accommodate the solution.

However, with Apple engineers working to “find” the ideal space inside the iPhone 16 Pro, it will now be possible to have this telephoto sensor on the device.

Still, the expectation is that Apple will increase the screen of the iPhone 16 Pro to 6.3 inches, something designed to expand the space inside the device’s body.

Furthermore, supplier Largan has finally managed to achieve an “acceptable” yield in the production of this new sensor made to order for Apple.

When the company presented the iPhone 15 line, production yield was just 40%, but now it’s safe to say that this number has reached 70%. By 2024, Largan will be able to meet demand not only for the Pro Max model, but also for the Pro version.

For now, Apple is not commenting on the matter. Therefore, everything should be considered as just another market rumor.
