iPhone 16: Model with more buttons and designed for Apple Intelligence, but still without AI

New York, Sep 20 (EFE).- Apple is launching its new iPhone models this Friday, The number 16, which is characterized by having a new “camera” button and because it was designed to power Apple Intelligence – the company’s artificial intelligence (AI) – a new technology that is not yet available.

Prices for the two iPhone 16 models — which come in a range of vibrant colors — range from $799 to $899, and the titanium iPhone 16 Pro ranges from $999 to $1,199. Each model comes in the larger “plus” size.

A new button to take photos

The main difference between all the models and the previous ones – the company launches a new phone every year – is that it has a new exclusive button to activate and control the camera, in addition to the action button that was incorporated in the Pro 15 models from last year.

One of the objectives of this new button on the left side is to take photos faster, but it does not only serve as a shutter, since depending on the pressure applied and moving the finger from left to right, you can control other capabilities such as: exposure, depth of field, zoom, which cameras to use, types of style and tone. Settings that can also be controlled from the screen.

Users will be able to change this button to use the camera in supported apps, such as social networks.

By default, a single click opens the camera when the phone is unlocked, and another click takes a photo. Apple stresses that its new models offer a faster camera sensor.

The Pro range also adds a 48MP “ultra-wide” camera with “super high resolution with autofocus” to its phone, as well as a 5x telephoto lens that can take photos at 120mm.

More control in editing

iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro offer a new Photographic Styles feature that lets you fine-tune how your camera handles colors, skin tones, shadows, and filters, even after you’ve taken a photo.

The improvements in video editing are even more noticeable, you can use Audio Mix to give priority to the voices that come out on the screen and eliminate ambient sound, for example.

Plus, you can turn it into a 4K ultra-slow motion video with the 16 Pro.

AI only in beta for now

Earlier this month, CEO Tim Cook said the new models had been “designed from the ground up with Apple Intelligence in mind.” What’s more, one of the differences in the Pro line is that the phones are equipped with the A18 Pro chip, with a 16-core Neural Engine for Apple Intelligence features.

However, users lining up today to buy one of the new models will not see Apple’s AI on their devices unless they manage to install a developer beta version on their phones.

The Apple company has not yet announced official dates, but it is expected that before the end of this year in the US new features will be incorporated, such as a more intelligent Siri that can follow a conversation or the possibility of seeing summaries of notifications or email or message chains.

The first version available will be in English, but next year Apple is looking to expand this AI to more languages, such as Chinese – one of its largest markets -, French, Japanese and Spanish.

This delay could cause those interested in having more generative AI in their phones to look at the latest models from Google and Samsung, which already include several functions of this technology for both search and text and images.
