iPhone 16 and 16 Plus may come equipped with Apple A17 Bionic chipset and 8 GB of RAM

With launch scheduled to take place only in the 3rd quarter of 2023, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models may come equipped with Apple’s own A17 Bionic platform — a chipset that may be faster than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 — with a manufacturing process TSMC’s N3E delivering greater performance and energy efficiency.

This information is sourced from informant Jeff Pu, technology analyst at investment company Haitong International Securities, in Hong Kong. In a note sent to the website 9to5Mac, Pu states that the most affordable next-generation versions may come equipped with 8 GB of RAM (LPDDR5) instead of the 6 GB of its predecessors.

It is possible that the iPhone 15 line will maintain these characteristics of previous generations by delivering 6 GB of RAM in the cheapest versions, while the more expensive options have more memory.

This evolution in the amount of RAM memory should significantly improve the ability of cell phones to keep applications open in the background, as well as greater performance in applications that require a lot of RAM during processing, such as games and video or text editors, for example.

The maximum frequency is also expected to be improved from 2024, but there is still no information on what to expect from the Apple A17 Bionic beyond the 3-nanometer lithography and N3E process. The models that will be presented this Tuesday (12) at the Wonderlust event, which takes place at 2 pm (Brasília time) must use the Taiwanese giant’s N3B process.

There is still no speculation regarding the price of the iPhone 16 Series generation, but it is possible that new information will be released in the coming months following the arrival of the iPhone 15 family.
