iPhone 15 Pro Max has GPU surpassed by Galaxy S23 Ultra in test

Despite being the first smartphone to hit the market with a processor made using a 3 nanometer process, the iPhone 15 Pro Max was surpassed by its main competitor, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultrain terms of GPUGraphics processing unitor graphics processing unit.”>1. Even with results of benchmarks demonstrating performance gains, the graphics performance of the new iPhone was not as stable as that of the South Korean device — whose chip (the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy) is manufactured using a 4nm lithography.

As reflected by SamMobile, Tests conducted on both devices via the Korean YouTube channel BullsLab using the application benchmark 3DMark Wildlife Extreme showed the differences between the devices in terms of GPU. This app runs several rounds of a graphics test, in order to measure not only the maximum performance of GPUs, but also stability in stressful situations.

At the end of the first round, the Galaxy S23 Ultra obtained 3.886 points, once morest 3.608 of the iPhone 15 Pro Max. What weighed most once morest the Apple device was the great difference in its performance in the second test, compared to the first: in this stage, 2.843 points, representing 22% less following just one round.

Samsung’s device score, on the other hand, registered a drop of 28%falling to 2.794but only in twentieth round. In the second stage, the drop was marginal, with the device marked 3.821 points, with the score gradually reducing throughout the rounds. This shows how the iPhone has difficulty maintaining GPU performance when under high demand.

This is the first time that a Samsung device has surpassed an iPhone in terms of GPU performance. It is possible that the performance below the competition of the new Apple device is a consequence of overheating problems and poor management and poor heat dissipation — and not exactly a processor or GPU that has inferior capabilities.

The South Korean device has, for example, a system of vapor chambers to cool the device, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max does not have any mechanism of this type. Apple’s promise that the A17 Pro chip would have GPU performance 20% larger than that of the A16 Bionic, therefore, it may be an obstacle to the issue of overheating.
