iPhone 14: towards much better quality selfies

The iPhone 14s are going to see improvements to the front camera, so much so that it would be a noticeable gain over previous models.

The analyst Ming-Chi Kuo provides for the arrival of autofocus in the front camera. This focus will improve the image quality of selfies and videos, compared to the fixed focus technology used previously. According to these rumors, the camera of the new Apple smartphone could be considered a major breakthrough.

A new supplier

For this new technology, Apple has partnered with LG Innotek. This new supplier arrived in the dance following a breach of contract. Apple having broken its contract with a Chinese company for quality problems.

This new partnership should allow Apple to have a new front camera that is more efficient than ever. This is the first collaboration between the South Korean company LG Innotek and the Cupertino company.

A new opening

In addition, the aperture should increase from f/2.2, a value unchanged since the iPhone 11, to f/1.9. This change allows more light to enter and could be useful when the lighting is insufficient.

Ming-Chi Kuo also claims that Apple will use an AF (autofocus) sensor with an aperture of ƒ/1.9 with six-element optics, instead of an FF (fixed focus) sensor with an aperture of ƒ/2.2 with five-element optics, which should dramatically improve focus and low-light shot quality.

To find out if these new rumors are true, we will have to wait a few more months. Apple’s future keynote will take place in September 2022. Until then, we are not immune to new rumors.
