Previously restricted to China and India, the manufacture of iPhone 14 now it also happens in Brazil.
The reader Vinícius Gonçalves got in touch with us today to say that he acquired the model and found information that his device had been assembled in our country — more precisely in Foxconn from Jundiaí, in São Paulo.
As we can see in this photo sent by Vinícius, the iPhone 14 he bought (blue model, 128GB) is identified by the part number MPVN3BR/A
— proving to be a national unity. Imported iPhones, in turn, have part numbers ended in BZ/A
.
Given that this information appears to be quite recent, it is not included in the most up-to-date version of the device’s Technical Compliance Certificate, made publicly available by the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel). In the latest version of the document, there is still information that the device comes from five manufacturing units: four in China and one in India.
It’s not the first time something like this has happened to Apple, however. Last year, Mac Studio was also released here before the documentation arrived in the regulatory agency’s system.
The manufacture of the iPhone 14 in India, by the way, is quite recent: it started in September last year. In fact, the production of devices there, which is the second largest smartphone market in the world, has been happening since 2017, but only with older generations and entry-level models. Now, however, Apple’s plans are changing.
In Brazil, history makes us believe that only the iPhones 14 and 14 Plus are assembled here — the top-of-the-line iPhones (Pro) should be left out. In case anything in this scenario changes, of course, we will update the article with more information.
