The embedding of a new lens in the front camera of the iPhone 14 would significantly increase prices.
This Wednesday, we were talking to you regarding the likely evolution of the iPhone 14 in terms of selfie quality. Indeed, Apple would have signed a partnership with LG Innotek so that it creates and brings new lenses in the front camera of the next iPhone. Created jointly with Sharp, this new camera would be of much better quality. So much so that it would justify a nice increase in the price of the new iPhone.
This is the magazine Forbes who drops this little bombshell. According to his journalist Gordon Kelly, this new partnership concluded between Apple and LG Innotek would force Cupertino to revise its prices upwards, so much so that we are talking regarding several hundred additional euros.
Expensive autofocus
ET News mentions “a unit price of the front camera three times higher than on previous models”. If Apple should not, and fortunately, triple the current price of its iPhone, the addition should still sting. According to the first estimates, the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max should increase by $100, and thus go to $1,099 and $1,199. For their part, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max would increase by … $200! The note would thus go to $899 and $999.
As a reminder, this new front photo sensor of the iPhone 14 will be considerably more advanced than the current one. The autofocus will be part of the game for videos in order to improve the depth of field in Portrait mode and in calls.
This sensor was originally intended for the iPhone 15, but due to Apple’s “Chinese manufacturer quality issues”, this sensor will be embedded in the iPhone 14. So better quality, but a higher price…
