Apple celebrated the 15th anniversary of its successful iPhone with the launch of its latest version: the iPhone 14.
At a hybrid event – which featured a majority of pre-recorded presentations plus a live presentation to a small group of invited guests at Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California – the company revealed the 4 new phones that make up the iPhone 14 range (iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max).
In addition, it also announced new versions of its wireless headphones and watches.
What are the main new technologywould you what trae this version of the iPhone?
At BBC Mundo we tell you.
1. Improved cameras and sensors
As usual, the main advances come in the area of photography and video.
Apple announced the incorporation of a number of advances in camera technology in the iPhone 14, in addition to gets betters and the sensor that processes the images.
According to the company, the improvements will be reflected particularly in night or low light photos and videos.
He said these advances are achieved with technology Apple calls the “Photonic engine,” which better integrates the phone’s software and hardware to achieve levels of picture quality that exceed that of other phones in the same range.
Also, the two cameras that come in the basic version of the iPhone 14 are improved versions of 12 megapixels.
On the other hand, the Pro and Pro Max models of the iPhone 14 will have a 48-megapixel camera, in addition to the A16 bionic chip, which, according to the company, will give it faster speeds than its competitors’ phones in the same range.
2. Accident detection
In the area of security, Apple announced that its new phones will have advanced accelerometers that will allow it to measure drastic changes in speed.
In the iPhone 14, this technology, in combination with the iOS 16 operating system, will be able to detect traffic accidents and automatically alert emergency services if one occurs.
Additionally, the new generation of Apple phones will have satellite emergency services, which will allow the iPhone 14 to send an SOS signal through GPS services.
This technology will be available for all phones in the iPhone 14 line.
3. Always-on displays on the Pros
According to the Cupertino company, the new screens on the iPhone Pro and Pro Max are the “most advanced ever put on a smartphone.”
The company says that the new Super Retina XDR technology makes it easy for the screen to stay on all the time and still allows the phone’s battery to stay charged for an entire day.
This will allow iPhone users to have widgets and applications such as weather and calculator always available, without having to turn on the phone screen.
The Pro line of the iPhone 14 will also have what Apple called “Dynamic Island”: an ingenious way to use the black space where the front camera rests on these phones and that has been criticized so much by technology experts.
The black space is reduced in the iPhone 14 Pro, and, in addition, the software uses that new part available in the upper area of the screen to show controls for music and other types of functions.
The company said the phones will be available in the US for pre-sale on September 9 and for sale a week later.
