With the next WWDC approaching, we tend to start hearing even more rumors regarding the new systems. Joining other information, such as a possible diary application, today we have new speculations regarding the app Health (Health) and the wellness area as a whole.
According to the Bloomberg, the Health app will finally come to the iPad with iPadOS 17, a new feature that Apple hopes will increase the app’s popularity, which is important for its health efforts. If this is confirmed, it will be possible, for example, to see the Apple Watch electrocardiograms on a larger screen than the iPhone.
We should also see new wellness features. It will be possible to insert, in the Health app, mood/emotions and vision conditions, such as myopia, with the possibility of comparing results over time. In the future, Apple would hope to develop algorithms capable of determining a user’s mood from their speech and typed terms. These features, it is worth mentioning, should be separated from the speculated new diary app.
Another novelty — which we will still have to wait some time until it is launched — is the subscription to a service which can work as a coach, but more broadly. With the codename “Quartz”the idea of the resource, according to Bloombergis to encourage users to exercise and maintain good eating and sleeping habits, using data from the Apple Watch and artificial intelligence.
This project emerged from the LumiHealth initiative, which encourages the practice of physical exercises in Singapore. In the country, people receive a cash bonus when they meet health goals; in the case of “Quartz”, it is another subscription, like Apple Fitness+, which will have its own app.
The service, however, will not be launched this year: it should only arrive in 2023, if it is not postponed or cancelled. Several teams, said the vehicle, are working on “Quartz”, such as Siri, AI and, of course, health, in addition to the service sector.
The initiatives join Apple’s broad effort in terms of health, which has been largely translated into Apple Watch features, such as the electrocardiogram, atrial fibrillation history and menstrual cycle monitoring. In the future, we may see even more news, such as the long-awaited glucose monitor.
