A man shot dead two women in a parking lot in front of Cornerstone Church in Ames, Iowa, and then turned the gun on himself. When police arrived at the scene, they found the three dead.
Nicholas Lennie from the local police department said it was a lone gunman. Information about the identities of the victims and the perpetrator is not yet available.
Shots in the graveyard
At least two people were injured by gunfire in a cemetery in Racine, Wisconsin. So far, no perpetrator has been arrested. The shots were fired at people at Graceland Cemetery who were reportedly attending a funeral for an African American man who was shot dead during a police stop in late May. Relatives said on local television that members of the mourners were injured. Other media reports said five were injured and that the gunman had opened fire from a car.

In recent days, gun violence has increased in the United States. Just yesterday, a week after the massacre at a Texas elementary school, a man opened fire at a hospital in Oklahoma, killing four people before shooting himself.
US President Joe Biden called for stricter gun laws and a ban on assault rifles on Thursday. “How much more bloodshed are we willing to accept?” Biden asked in an emotional speech at the White House in Washington on Thursday evening.
