It has already been said previously that Apple should launch the iOS 18 as one of the biggest updates in the system’s history. In addition to the speculated artificial intelligence features, a new rumor pointed to the possibility of significant changes to the look of the next version of iOS/iPadOS.
The Israeli vehicle The Verifier stated discovered that Apple was working to insert design elements into the visionOSoperating system Apple Vision Proin both iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. Menus, applications such as Safari and other areas of the system would then be influenced by Apple’s headset software, gaining a new look.
Examples of small changes to the current interfaces of Apple systems that would be in line with this transformation to be carried out are also cited. The floating sidebar of the TV app introduced in tvOS 17.2 — similar to visionOS menus — would be, for the vehicle, a sign of these new features, and should even be taken to the version of the app in iPadOS 18.
Two other current iOS elements mentioned by The Verifier as possible “harbingers” of future changes are the menu for sending media in iMessage, with round icons, and the Action button area in the Settings of the iPhones 15 Pro/15 Pro Max. Such interfaces, for the vehicle, are different from the rest systems and would be more related to the visionOS elements, which would be included in iOS 18.
It is not known to what extent, if the rumor comes true, elements of visionOS would be incorporated, including considering the particularities of Vision Pro and the differences in relation to other devices. The Israeli outlet also has a mixed track record when it comes to past rumors, which only makes the claims even more dubious.
iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and other new versions of Apple systems should be announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024, in June, when the company usually releases news regarding its updates.
