In the short time reserved for the presentation of the iOS 17 already WWDC23Apple has given good prominence to apps Telephone e Contactsespecially when the resource arrives Contact Poster — nothing more than an evolution of the contact cards we already know, which will now have a level of customization to the locked screen.

Completely changing the interface of incoming calls, a Contact Poster allows users to customize the image, typography and even the colors. As with the locked screen, it is possible to customize the background so that there is a certain level of overlap between the person in focus and the font.

A Contact Poster can be set up at any time in the Contacts application — either the user’s own or others’. It is possible to “make” a poster from a few sources: the camera, photos, a Memoji or a monogram. On the edit screen, just tap the name or the circle in the lower left corner to customize the background or text.

You can create multiple posters to switch between them whenever you want. According to Apple, the new feature will also be available to third-party apps through an API.Application programming interfaceor application programming interface.”>1 — which means that software like WhatsApp and Telegram will be able to adopt the feature in future updates and, who knows, they may already be working on it until the launch of iOS 17.

The new system will also make it easier to share files using AirDrop. In the case of posters, this share gained a unique name: NameDrop. It allows two people to simply hold their iPhones together and share their contact information with each other — Contact Poster and all.

Also working with the Apple Watch, the feature even allows users to select which contact fields they want to share — just a number or email address, for example.

And still speaking of fields in the Contacts app, there is now a specific one for adding pronouns. It will let you choose the language and even provide some usage examples to help you complete the form.

In terms of privacy, Apple still makes it clear that the pronouns are only used on its devices by supported apps and are not shared with either the company or third-party developers.
