iOS 17: Siri in Portuguese will also work without internet

No iOS 17Apple will implement improvements to Siri and one of them will be available at Brazilian Portuguese. According to our collaborator Vinícius Porto, in the next update, speakers of the language will be able to enjoy the feature that allows the virtual assistant to work even without an internet connection.

Available since iOS 15 — only in English, until then — users will have access to faster responses and improved performance. However, it’s important to remember that there are some limitations to Siri’s offline commands.

Among those that work without a connection are: creating and canceling alarms and timers, opening apps and controlling music and podcasts. You can also adjust system settings such as Dark Mode, volume, accessibility features, Low Power Mode, and Airplane Mode.

However, it is important to note that features which require continuous updates, such as weather information, traffic details, HomeKit integration, Reminders and Calendar updates, will naturally not work without an internet connection.

Additionally, app-specific commands such as making FaceTime calls, phone calls, or playing downloaded music and podcasts will also not be available offline.

With the arrival of this feature in iOS 17 for Portuguese, users will be able to take advantage of Siri even more, even in situations where connectivity is limited. This shows that Apple continues to improve, even if slowly, the user experience, making its assistant minimally useful.

On the other hand, it doesn’t hurt to remember that this feature is part of a beta version of iOS 17 and that it may not be released as soon as the system is released to the general public – especially if Apple still considers it not ready.
