iOS 17.2 will allow you to change the default notification sound

The fourth beta version of iOS 17.2 brought good news for those who were waiting for customization options. When launched, the system will allow you to change the default notification sound — a feature users have long wanted!

Within the “Sound and Touch” settings, a new “Default Alerts” section (“Default Alerts“) will make it possible to customize notification sounds, offering several tone options, including classic options such as Tri-tone.

Additionally, users will be able to adjust haptic feedback for notifications. This way, it will be possible to adapt the vibration according to personal preferences, making it easier to notice when there are new alerts, even with the quietest sound.

Amid these improvements, Apple removed the collaborative playlists feature from Apple Music. This exclusion in the fourth test version suggests that the function may not be included in the final release of the system — contrary to Apple’s plans.

Other changes in iOS 17.2 include more detailed information regarding warranty coverage and details regarding device support services. The tab that is currently called “Coverage” will be renamed to “AppleCare and Warranty”.

Additionally, iPhone 15 Pro users will find new alerts related to external recording; In practice, it will indicate when recording is not working due to the use of low-speed USB-C cables.

Finally, system codes hint at future changes, indicating Apple’s plan to eliminate the option to purchase TV shows and movies directly in the iTunes app, redirecting users to the Apple TV app for these purchases.

In testing since last October, iOS 17.2 should gain a few more beta versions by the end of the year. Although Apple does not set a date for when the system will be launched, the expectation is that it will occur in the first half of December.
