“iOS 17.2” distribution started; “Journal” app using machine learning now available – ITmedia Mobile

Apple announced on December 11th (local time) that it would include iOS 17.2.OS updates for a range of productsdistribution has started. This article introduces new features and security-related updates in iOS 17.2.

This update implements many of the features announced at WWDC in June.

Journal, an app that supports diary entry using on-device machine learning functionality, will be available. “You can capture and write regarding everyday moments and special events in your life, and create rich memories by including photos, videos, audio recordings, locations, and more,” Apple explains.

For iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, you can now assign translation options to the action button. Now you can launch the translation app right when you need it.

Other features include an arrow to jump to the first unread message in a conversation in Messages, the ability to add stamps to speech bubbles, new weather and clock widgets, and play your favorite songs from Apple Music. You can now add lists, etc.

In terms of security, 12 vulnerabilities were addressed this time, although none were “possibly actively exploited.” For example, there is a vulnerability that might allow apps to read sensitive location information using the Find My feature on iPhones and iPads.

Security-related updates are also distributed as “iOS 16.7.3” for current iPhones that cannot be updated to iOS 17.
