Apple has released the third developer beta of iOS 17.1, which highlights a warning from Apple regarding the Wallet app, which may crash among users of the previous build of the system.
According to the update release notes, with beta 3, the Wallet app may crash on launch for those who have not yet updated and remain on iOS 17.1 beta 1 or iOS 17.1 beta 2. This affects those who used Apple’s “Connected Cards” featurea function that allows you to view your debit and credit card balance information directly in the Apple app, instead of connecting to your bank.
If you’re in an earlier beta and wondering why the Wallet app isn’t working, the answer is that Apple does some tweaking on the backend. The update is currently only available to developers, so public beta testers may experience issues. Apple will likely release the third public beta of iOS 17.1 very soon, perhaps as early as this Thursday (12).
Apple also says that the connection between a card and a bank account may be revoked unexpectedly and that users who encounter this issue will need to follow a “Refresh your connection” repair flow that includes going to Settings, navigating to Apple Pay & Wallet > Connections and reconnecting a board.
