As soon as Apple released the first beta version of iOS 16.4we caught a glimpse of technology 5G Standalone (IN) coming to the American operator T-Mobile. At the time, the reader MacMagazine, Vitor Gomeshad verified that the connection 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) had already been released to all Brazilian operatorsbut the so-called “pure” 5G has not yet.
With the arrival of the second beta of the system, today, Vitor identified that several Brazilian operators already show 5G SA in the network settings.
In its tests, it was possible to verify that the option to activate 5G SA already appears for those using a 5G chip or an eSIM from Vivo. Me on TIM it appears, but it is still not possible to activate it with eSIM. Unfortunately, at least in the beginning, it seems that customers of Clear will be left out of this, since the option does not even appear.
It is worth remembering that the novelty was already expected in Brazil at least since last September, when it was announced by operators and by Apple that support for the technology would arrive in the country.
In addition, iOS 16.4 will also implement a novelty for Vivo customers: the “VIVO Voice WiFi” feature will be renamed to just “VIVO Wi-Fi”, and will now become capable of sending/receiving SMS messages over Wi-Fi (or that is, even without cellular connectivity).
iOS 16.4 is still in the testing phase and we don’t know when its final version will be released to everyone. However, with these news, the expectation is now great, isn’t it?
