As many must have followed, the Apple started testing yesterday iOS 16.4 and the other systems — which will bring multiple new features and corrections, as we have already informed you.
In addition to what has already been discussed, the future system of iPhones will also detail the Always On Display battery consumption on iPhones 14 Pro/14 Pro Max, as well as bringing some updates to the interface do Apple Music It’s from Emergency SOS via satelliteamong others — as we will see in detail below.
Always On Display Battery Consumption
As noted by 9to5Mac in iOS 16.4 code, the system will report details regarding the battery consumption of the Always On Display in the “Battery Usage by App” section — in the “Battery” settings within Settings.
This means users will see a new category specific to that feature, similar to how it already shows specific data for features like Home and Lock Screen, Personal Hotspot, and more.
Interface do Apple Music
Another change identified by the 9to5Mac it is related to a subtle but interesting change in Apple Music: the addition of the user’s profile picture in the “Library” and “Search” tabs — through which it is possible to access your profile and other related settings. Until then, such a button appears only on the “Listen Now” tab of the service.
Apple has also changed the look of some in-app actions. For example, when you add a song to the queue, a small card will appear at the bottom of the screen confirming the action. Currently, the app showed a large card in the middle of the screen.
Also, the playlist menu will show cover art in a smaller size, so that more lists are displayed on the screen. Some of the app’s buttons have also been slightly changed.
Emergency SOS via satellite
With iOS 16.4, Apple will also more accurately report satellite availability when using the Satellite Emergency SOS feature, as reported by MacRumors.
More precisely, the feature will tell you exactly when you will be in range of the next satellite to use the feature. For example:
- Next satellite available at [x]time(s) and [x]minutes)
- Next satellite available at [x]hours)
- Next satellite available at [x]minutes)
- Next satellite available in less than 1 minute
Warranty View/AppleCare+
Yet, as noted by MacRumorsiOS 16.4 will include a new screen in Settings (more precisely, in General » About), through which it will be possible to check the coverage/warranty (with or without AppleCare+) for various devices — such as iPhones, Apple Watches and AirPods.
What do you think of the news so far? We will, of course, continue to monitor any other possible changes from the latest betas.
