iOS 16.4, the final version of which will be released soon (probably next week), enriches the duplicate detection function in Photos. iOS 16 introduced a Duplicates album that appears at the very bottom of the Albums section of the Photos app. As its name suggests quite clearly, this album gathers all duplicate images and videos (or more), then it’s up to you to clean up by selecting the files to keep.
This function, which requires some indexing time before producing its effects, applied until now to the user’s personal photo library. With iOS 16.4, it extends to the shared photo library of iCloud, which you can for example use as a family (up to 6 participants). And here too, this concerns photos and videos.
