Many users were frustrated that Apple removed many of the wallpapers iPhone standards with the arrival of iOS 16. More than that, those who were already using some “classic” version when the update was performed cannot remove them if they want to use it at some other time, as there is no (native) way to recover it.
Fortunately, though, iOS 16 lets you add tons of custom lock screens (up to 200, to be precise), so you can create and edit new versions without losing old ones. If before these “classic” wallpapers could not be edited, this behavior has now changed in iOS 16.3.
As noted by 9to5Macalthough Apple does not mention it in the iOS 16.3 release notes, the latest version of the system allows users to add widgetsas well as change the screen font when using a wallpaper from an older version of the system, if you still have it.
When tapping to customize an old wallpaper, however, iOS displays an alert for you to confirm whether you want to change the current wallpaper or create a new one.
