The Sailing Club of Patras participated with four athletes in the ILCA 4 category and 7 athletes in the Optimist category in the Southern Greece Regional Championship. In total they participated
102 sailors from 10 groups and according to the final results in the ILCA category the four athletes of the IOP took the 1st place overall as well as the 1st place among the girls Olga-Theodora Douska and the 1st place among the boys Evangelos Daniel, the 4th place among the girls Ariadni Dakounaki and on the 6th Artemis Kartezini.
In the Optimist category, Giannis Argiros, Filippos Koutsouropoulos and Panagiotis Koutsouropoulos won 2nd, 3rd and 6th overall and boys respectively (he was also 2nd among athletes under 13). All the above IOP sportsmen and women gained the right to participate in the qualification of the national team in the specific categories.
The Sailing team included Marios Matthaiopoulos (27th), Leonidas Argyros (31st), Iordanis Karakapilidis (38th) and Telemachos Polychronopoulos in Optimist and they were accompanied by coaches Giorgos Hatzikonstantinou and Aristotelis Kouloumbis Kalogeropoulos.
With its announcement, the IOP congratulated all the athletes and thanked the director of the department Argyris Petratos, the coach Giorgos Chandjikonstantinou, Theofilos Maraziotis and Aristoteli Kouloumpi-Kalogeropoulos, the volunteers and parents for their great effort and its great sponsor the Super Cargo company.
