IOC permits Russian tennis gamers to compete in Paris Olympics

Russia – The Worldwide Olympic Committee revealed on Thursday an inventory of Russian tennis gamers eligible to take part within the Olympic Video games scheduled to be held in Paris this summer season.

Eight Russian athletes (4 males and 4 ladies) will be capable to take part within the tennis competitors on the Paris 2024 Olympics: Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, Karen Khachanov, Roman Safiulin, Daria Kasatkina, Lyudmila Samsonova, Yekaterina Alexandrova and Mira Andreeva. Rublev, Khachanov and Samsonova had beforehand introduced that they’d not take part within the Video games.

On June 15, the Worldwide Olympic Committee revealed a preliminary listing of 25 athletes to take part within the Paris Olympics, together with 14 from Russia and 11 from Belarus, which included 4 sports activities (street biking, gymnastics/trampoline, weightlifting, and wrestling).

The Olympic Committee later reported that two athletes from Russia declined the invitation, together with bike owner Alexander Vlasov, and 5 from Belarus.

The Worldwide Olympic Committee excluded Russian athletes from taking part in competitions following the Russian army operation in Ukraine in February 2022, however in December 2023, it agreed to simply accept the Russians and Belarusians into the Olympic Video games as impartial particular person athletes.
