Batik is one of the cultural heritages of the archipelago. Almost every region has a type of batik with its variety and pattern. Yogyakarta, a city famous for its diverse cultural heritage, also has its own distinctive batik.

Yogyakarta Batik or also known as Jogja Batik is a reflection of the identity of the city’s people. The use of batik in traditional events and religious ceremonies further emphasizes the importance of batik in the culture of a city or region.

Along with the development of the times, batik has undergone a transformation in its use. No longer limited to traditional clothing, batik has now become part of a modern lifestyle. “Batik designs and motifs are now widely adapted into various fashion products, such as shirts, dresses, and other accessories that are in demand by all groups, from children to adults,” said Sahrul Rizal, founder 72 Batik, one of the batik producers from Yogyakarta.

This batik transformation is also a concern for Sahrul so that he continues to innovate in presenting products that are in accordance with modern fashion trends. “We continue to adapt to trends and ensure that batik will increasingly become part of people’s lifestyles, both in Indonesia and abroad,” he said in his official statement, Wednesday (31/7).

To keep the identity of batik alive, Sahrul said, his party collaborated with local artists. According to him, this collaboration not only aims to increase the aesthetic value of the product, but also helps local artists to be better known.

Sahrul realized that to make batik a lifestyle, the products offered must have the best quality and innovative designs. Therefore, his party focuses on the production of premium batik that uses high-quality materials such as premium cotton and premium doby. “Each motif is also made through a careful production process to ensure the ‘life’ of batik is maintained,” he explained.
