Invited by the Italian far right, Elon Musk reaffirms his position on immigration

Invited to a far-right political rally, Elon Musk declared himself “very supportive of legal immigration,” saying countries should welcome anyone who is honest and willing to work hard. He recognized, however, that it was not possible to assess who fulfilled these characteristics without monitoring, concluding:

“Let’s increase legal immigration, but we must put an end to illegal immigration.”

“People will disappear”

The billionaire was the star guest at the Atreju political festival, organized by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s far-right Fratelli d’Italia (FDI) party, to discuss the fight once morest illegal immigration.

The fiery billionaire also warned that migration cannot replace population growth, saying that without an increase in the birth rate, “people will disappear”.

Elon Musk thus highlighted the low fertility rate in Italy, a major concern for Ms. Meloni’s party, judging that this represented a risk for companies wishing to invest.

Asked if Italy was a good place to invest, he said yes, but added: “I worry regarding the low birth rate.”

“If a company wants to invest in Italy, will there be enough people to work there? “, he asked.

When asked by a reporter that this would be a problem in 50 years, Mr. Musk replied that it might happen “much sooner.”

“I agree, it’s a good place to invest and a wonderful country. Please make more Italians, that’s what I’m saying,” the billionaire concluded.

The “wokist ideology” of advertisers

Elon Musk claimed that advertisers were returning to the X platform (formerly Twitter) following an exodus. Asked regarding advertisers who have abandoned his platform, worried regarding an increase in far-right publications, an increase in disinformation and harassment pointed out by a number of observers, since he bought it in October 2022 , Musk said:

“I think X will do well, and we’re already seeing advertisers coming back to X.”

He added :

“Advertisers are always worried regarding their brand… But I think it’s a short-term problem”, judging that some of those who had left X were infected by a “woke virus” (activism which aims to promote and defend all minorities, Editor’s note).

Ms. Meloni, who also says she is opposed to “woke ideology,” came to power last year thanks, among other things, to her promise to put an end to illegal immigration.
