Investor temporarily suspends maintenance of Highway 51

Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway Development Joint Stock Company (BVEC) has just sent a document to the Ministry of Transport and the Department of Roads of Vietnam (Ministry of Transport) to stop implementing and not be responsible for ensuring safety. traffic safety, regular maintenance work for all items under the BOT project to build and expand National Highway 51 from February 1.

Previously, the Road Administration of Vietnam has announced to suspend the collection of tolls for BOT projects in the construction and expansion of National Highway 51 from January 13. At the same time, the Department requested BVEC to continue to manage and maintain the work to ensure smooth and safe operation until the time of project handover.

However, according to BVEC, the suspension of toll collection by the Vietnam Road Administration (Ministry of Transport) for BOT projects in the construction and expansion of National Highway 51 is a violation of the contract signed between the Ministry of Transport and BVEC in 2009.

Therefore, from 0:00 on 1-2, BVEC will stop implementing and not be responsible for traffic safety, regular maintenance and construction maintenance for all. project items.

National Highway 51 BOT project is more than 72 km long, with a scale of 6 lanes, 2 mixed lanes, a design speed of more than 80 km/h, with a total investment of nearly 3,800 billion VND, has been exploited since April 2013. .
