Investments under Law 60/90 total more than USD 290 million at the end of September

Asunción, IP Agency.- Projected investments by the ninth month of 2024 reached a total of USD 293 million, USD 22 million or 9% more than what was achieved in the same period of the previous year. Likewise, the projected jobs amount to more than 4,700 in the same period, reported the Vice Ministry of Industry of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

This good dynamism is reflected in the monthly values, since the report indicates that in the month of September of this year alone, the investments projected under this incentive totaled USD 64 million, with a positive variation of 90%, in comparison to the month of August 2024, when it was USD 33 million.

In the ninth month of 2024, some 19 investment projects were approved, of which 86% are concentrated in the areas of food products, with a 43% participation; followed by the construction materials sectors, with 27%, and biofuel, with 16%.

To a lesser extent, there are also the areas of services, clothing and textiles, wood and its manufactures, among others.

Of the USD 293 million of investments projected from January to September, USD 191 million are capital of national origin, which represents an increase of 15% compared to the same period of the previous year, says the Vice Ministry report.

Foreign investments totaled USD 102 million, similar to the levels achieved in the same period of 2023.

Regarding the sectors to which these projects accumulated until September belong, 96% are concentrated in the secondary sector; while primary takes 3% and tertiary, 1%.

Projected jobs

On the other hand, official data highlights that the number of jobs linked to this economic incentive amounts to 4,782, which represents an increase of 157% compared to the same period of the previous year, when it was 1,863 jobs.

One of the sectors that concentrates the largest workforce is the food products sector, with 3,199 jobs; followed by plastics and their manufactures, with 306 positions. Chemical and pharmaceutical products add some 244 jobs; while clothing and textiles, with 163 positions.

Likewise, to a lesser extent there are the sectors of production and storage of grains, construction materials, wood and its manufactures, among others, reports the Vice Ministry of Industry.

It should be remembered that 85% of the investments accumulated as of September 2024 are concentrated in the Central, Alto Paraná, Canindeyú, Paraguarí, and Capital departments.
