Investments under Law 60/90 reached almost US$ 230 million at the end of August

Asuncion, IP Agency.- At the end of August, the Law 60/90 incentive continues to add investments, reaching a total of USD 229 million. Also, the jobs linked in the period between January and August are around 3,678 jobs, according to the latest report from the Vice Ministry of Industry.

The report also indicates that in August 2024 alone, 12 new projects were approved under Law 60/90, reaching a value of USD 33 million, with a positive variation of 21%, compared to July when it was USD 28 million.

Regarding the main investment sectors, the document indicates that 77% is concentrated in the fuel sector, with 42%; followed by the production and storage of grains and seeds, with 18%; food products, with 17%; metals and their manufactures, with 13%; and to a lesser extent, with 6%, the rubber sector and its manufactures.

As for the cumulative figure up to August, the document indicates that projected investments amount to USD 229 million, demonstrating the good dynamism of the regime. In this sense, 97% of the investments are concentrated in the secondary sector; while the primary and tertiary sectors represent 2% and 1% respectively.

At the end of August, domestic investments amounted to more than USD 151 million, reflecting growing economic stability. Investments from abroad amounted to approximately USD 78 million.

Jobs generated

Regarding the workforce generated under Law 60/90, the report indicates that in the first eight months of the year, this regime created 3,678 new jobs, thus exceeding by 126% the number registered in previous periods.

79% of the jobs accumulated by August 2024 were concentrated mainly in the food, plastics and their manufacturing, chemical and pharmaceutical products, and grain and seed production and storage sectors.

Regarding the location of these investments, the report highlights that 91% are located in the departments of Central, Alto Paraná, Paraguarí, Capital and Itapúa, these being areas with the highest number of investments in recent years.

It is also worth noting that the jobs projected by these investments in August of this year alone totaled 206 positions. The document also indicates that more than 92% of the projected jobs are concentrated in the areas of Central, Alto Paraná and Caazapá.
