The South Korean video game giant wishes to inquire regarding investment opportunities in Morocco. Initial contacts were held with the Minister of Culture and Communication.
The Ministry of Culture had clearly displayed its ambitions to develop a thriving video game industry in Morocco. The objective is in fact to promote Moroccan talent and innovation but also to create employment. Today, the giants of the sector are interested in Moroccan potential in this area and the first contacts seem to have already started to be made in this direction. This is evidenced by the meeting held on Monday in Rabat between the Minister of Culture, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid and Young Mok Park, founder and general director of Proxy Planet.
This South Korean company is a major player in the video game industry. A sector, let us emphasize, renowned for the significant income it generates. This is why Bensaid wanted to present to the South Korean official Morocco’s vision in the field of the video games industry as well as the outlines of the ambitious project initiated by the ministry in this area.
For his part, Young Mok Park gave an overview of his company’s strategy to support the electronic games industry, in addition to the opportunities that can be exploited to develop this industry, its contribution to gross domestic product, and its capacity to drain foreign investments and create employment opportunities. These visions, on both sides, will motivate a series of meetings scheduled in Morocco for the South Korean operator with several managers, in addition to field visits dedicated to highlighting the investment opportunities that Morocco abounds with. .
Remember that the ministry’s project, for the promotion of the video game industry, has so far made it possible to provide the rooms of Youth Centers with spaces dedicated to electronic games, in addition to the creation, in collaboration with institutions, of other spaces dedicated to programming and innovation within Youth Centers, intended mainly for young people who have not received higher academic training, with the objective of making Morocco a continental leader in the field of electronic gaming industry.
Among the planned actions are the creation of a city dedicated to the electronic games industry which brings together national and international companies, as well as emerging companies in this field, in addition to the organization next year of an exhibition for the electronic games industry in Morocco.
