In Dax, in Landes, an investigation was opened for “serious abuse or acts of cruelty towards a domestic animal”. It follows a sinister discovery: a dog was found dead, hanging from its leash.
On Sunday, in an abandoned building in the south of the city, a person came across the lifeless animal, hanging with a leash around its neck. It was a large “molossoid” type dog, reports France Bleu. Everything so far indicates that this was an intentional act.
The dog’s owner was quickly identified and interviewed. However, he denies any involvement and swears that his animal had run away.
Police officers who described this case as “sordid” expressed their desire to treat it as if it were a human. The dog’s remains will be examined to determine the exact causes of death. And traces of DNA or prints are sought, among other things on the leash.
