The health of Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah was investigated in a medical error by a dentist in a private clinic, which resulted in a 22-year-old man swallowing a nerve pulling instrument while undergoing treatment, and the error almost led to his life following the instrument settled inside his windpipe. According to the details that were told by Okaz, the father of the affected young man, Abdul Hamid Bukhari, that his son Moataz visited a clinic to treat a tooth and during the extraction of the nerve, the tool fell in his throat and he tried to take it out in vain. The doctor did not intervene to rescue him or refer him to a hospital. Claiming that the gadget will come out when you vomit.
Bukhari added that his son left the clinic and his brother transferred him to Uhud Hospital, suffering from severe pain in his stomach. After conducting an x-ray, it was found that the instrument was inside the trachea. Moataz’s father continued, “I was summoned 3 days following the incident from the clinics complex and they demanded a settlement with me, and they said that the matter is simple and it always happens in dental clinics and cases are repeated in most cases.”
He added that he rejected all settlement attempts, preserving the right of his son to hold the doctor and the collector accountable for the negligence he was exposed to and not to deal with the case as the situation requires.
On the other hand, Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah Health Spokesman, Muayyad Abu Anq, explained that measures have been taken regarding the complaint of the affected citizen, the registration of his testimony, and the postponement of the travel of those concerned with the complaint until the investigations are completed to refer it to the legitimate health authority.
