The authorities attribute the seguidilla mainly to intolerance, although some experts also speak of purging migrants from criminal structures.

It was even said that the Tren de Aragua in Medellín, one of the most dangerous gangs in Venezuela and which already has a presence in Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Panama and the United States, was interested in entering the metropolitan area.

Although the Medellín authorities reiterate over and over once more that they have no indication that this organization is in the city, Quijano assured that there are some “stations” of this transnational organization, which “might be strengthened with the purge, be it armed or simply due to the withdrawal of these migrants, who are forming new common crime organizations, mainly,” Quijano explained.
