The psychiatrist and psychologist who took care of Madissone Massy, just after the death of her first child in 2017, testified before the Assize Court on Wednesday morning.
The psychologist portrayed an anxious, depressed woman, distressed at the idea of being alone with her son Enzo, while her husband had returned to work. “I think that the presence of her husband reassured her to take care of her son Enzo,” declares the psychologist. She was not aware of the numerous text messages sent by the accused to her husband, materializing her anxieties. The president is surprised and calls out to the accused. “For me, I wasn’t doing anything wrong,” replies the accused.
The psychologist went to the funeral home. “When I learned of the death of the little boy, upon my return from vacation, I took it like a bomb on the head. I went there to offer my condolences to the parents. When I arrived, she was alone , half lying on the coffin. The dad came up to me and thanked me. I approached her, she raised her head, you could see that she had cried a lot. We didn’t exchanged words.
The psychiatrist summoned Madissone Massy on March 29, 2019, for a first appointment. “Directly, she spoke to me about the birth of the first child, the circumstances, in great detail. I had the feeling that she was experiencing trauma. She spoke of a sudden death, but I found that her story was different from a sudden death.
Quickly, the risk of sudden death concerning Enzo was raised. The accused mentioned several cases of sudden death in her family. “I recommended that she talk to the pediatrician about her concerns and follow up with the psychologist, because she was traumatized by the loss of her first child.”
The accused confided to the psychiatrist that she was causing misery to her husband, in order to insist that he return as soon as possible, without explaining to me why. “She felt the need to have her husband close to her.”
For the psychiatrist, the discourse concerning the child and that concerning her husband was well separated.
The psychologist thought it was a Münchhausen syndrome by proxy, due to the emotional speech which did not correspond to the verbal speech. The psychiatrist thought about it too.
Madissone Massy is accused of murdering her nine-month-old son and beating him. Enzo died on July 22, 2019 at Jolimont hospital. He was hospitalized at Hornu hospital on July 16 after feeling unwell.
Two days later, he was urgently transferred to Jolimont, in a state of brain death. His mother, the accused, admitted on Monday to having pressed on his chest for several minutes, which caused the mechanical asphyxia which caused the death.
