Introduction to the “nbn” evening news bulletin for Sunday 30/01/2022

Within one week of receiving the Gulf paper to reconcile relations with Lebanon, Beirut responded with a letter delivered by the Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs to his Kuwaiti counterpart.

After the meeting of the two ministers, information was circulated regarding a positive atmosphere, gentlemen, and a Kuwaiti understanding of the Lebanese answers, bearing in mind that the letter – the response affirms keenness on the best relations with the Gulf states on the one hand, and on civil peace and stability in Lebanon on the other.

The Kuwaiti side expressed a positive attitude towards the proposal contained in the Lebanese message regarding the formation of a joint communication and coordination committee between Lebanon and the Gulf countries, and the study of the response to Lebanon’s letter, which was left for study by the concerned authorities to find out what is the next step with Lebanon, according to what the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister pointed out.

If there is now waiting for the official Gulf position on the Lebanese response… Will Beirut and the Gulf capitals succeed in bringing what has been cut off?!

At the internal level, the government’s concern is focused on the budget for the year 2022, which will return to the cabinet table tomorrow, following yesterday’s session was suspended on the electric current and the advance requested by the Minister of Energy.

As for the day following tomorrow, Tuesday, the Council of Ministers will rest due to a government visit to Turkey to hold another session on Wednesday. Will white smoke rise from it, marking the completion of the budget??.

To the budget, the repercussions of Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s withdrawal from political action were not lost. The Maronite Patriarch wished that this decision would be circumstantial and that the Sunni community would remain enthusiastic regarding the elections.

At the level of the external movement towards Lebanon, two visits are expected next week, the first by the Vatican’s foreign minister and the second by the American mediator in the file of demarcating the maritime borders.

An indication remains that the Lebanese file was discussed by the French and Iranian presidents during a phone call, according to what the Iranian presidency said, without providing further details.
