Introducing the world’s largest storage capacity memory card – Life & Style

Western Digital unveiled the world’s first Secure Digital (SD) card with 8 terabyte (TB) storage data and 16 TB external solid state drive (SSD) at the “Future of Memory and Storage Conference 2024”. It is of Kushai.

Newly introduced products include the SanDisk 8TB 8TB SDUCHS-1 SD card and the 16TB SanDisk Desk.

The eight TBSD card adheres to the Secure Digital Ultra Capacity (SDUC) standard and provides read speeds of up to 100 Mbps.

The launch comes shortly after Western Digital announced the SanDisk 4TB microSD card a few months ago.

Pricing and release dates for these new storage devices have not been announced, but premium pricing is expected.

These products are expected to be especially beneficial for professional photographers and videographers who demand more storage space.

An 8 TB memory card, when used in a high-end mirrorless camera, can store approximately 165,000 raw image files at 24 megapixels.

If the 8 TB memory card delivers the promised performance and reliability, it could represent a major breakthrough, offering users up to eight times the speed and substantial storage capacity.

Western Digital is expected to share additional product details in the future.
