DUSK author and Gloomwood co-creator David Shumansky has announced his new solo game. The slasher game Butcher’s Creek is inspired by Rockstar Games’ Manhunt and Condemned: Criminal Origins in both the atmosphere and the VHS-styled interface. Butcher’s Creek takes place in November 1993. A horror fanatic visits an abandoned cabin where bloody snuff movies were rumored to have been filmed. Unfortunately for him, this turned out to be true: the hero is captured by a gang of sadists. The only way to stop the bloody slaughter and escape to freedom is to apply the methods of this gang to its own members. Among the features Shumanski calls a rich arsenal, which includes wire cutters, hammers, axes, pipes and much more. Interestingly, you will have to restore health by viewing photos of terrible murders – in this way the hero satisfies his “hidden” desires. Butcher’s Creek is expected to release in 2024.
