A plane that this Friday was traveling from Bogotá to Havana might not land due to weather conditions and had to continue circling for a while, a trajectory that left a curious trail in the sky.
The official journalist Lázaro Manuel Alonso shared photos on his Facebook profile of the strange sights.
“Over Havana, a low-altitude plane leaves these images at dawn on Friday. They are shared once more and once more on social networks,” he said.

The cause was that a Boeing 737 plane from the Wingo airline might not land in Havana due to extensive fog and had to continue to Mexico.
This was confirmed on his Facebook by the Minister of Transportation, Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, who cited experts from the Cuban Air Navigation Company (ECNA), explaining that they are “condensation trails” formed by tiny ice particles, generated by the exhaust gases from a plane from Bogotá that might not land at the José Martí airport due to heavy fog and had to continue to the Cancún airport.

“These particles remain floating for a long time and create these images. Our airport is now operating normally. We will provide more information regarding this fact,” said the leader.
The specialized website Flightradar24 showed the trajectory that the aircraft followed.

The image captured shows that the plane did not even reach Havana, it was circling over Mayabeque, but the wind made the contrail visible in the capital.
Meteorologist Henry Delgado Manzor added that when these things happen it is a common maneuver for the plane to remain in a holding pattern.
“The Havana airport was below minimum, there was dense fog that greatly reduced visibility over the airfield and therefore might not land,” said Lázaro Manuel Alonso in the post.
