Intrepid Travel promotes sustainable tourism in Beni Mellal-Khénifra – Today Morocco

Plan d’action : Under the theme “Intrepid Travel, tour operator committed to the development of sustainable tourism in the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region and in collaboration with the CRT of the region, Intrepid Travel organized, Wednesday April 17, 2024, in Bin El Ouidane a conference of press with the tourism ecosystem with the aim of meeting operators in the region and presenting the Group’s strategic orientations for the development of sustainable tourism.

In a statement to ALM, Hala Benkhaldoun, general director of Intrepid in Morocco, underlined: “We are happy to be here today, in the region of Beni Mellal-Khénifra, to highlight our tourism, a tourism responsible. This region is very important to us, we integrate it into our tourist circuits and we are very proud of the links that bind us to this region which stands out for everything that is achieved in terms of sustainable development and local tourism… We We have around 70 of our tourist guides working with us who come from the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region, which represents around 50% of the guides we work with because we have 140 in total. We have future growth prospects which are very significant with a goal of reaching 50,000 customers by 2026. The objective of organizing this event in this region is to highlight rural regions because they are an integral part of our tours and we are proud to be able to encourage these countries as part of our visits to Morocco.

For his part, James Thornton, President and CEO of Intrepid Travel, emphasized: “We would like to achieve positive change in the world through our operations. Our clients come from various markets in Australia, the United States, England… One thing unites us despite all our differences, and that is to create a positive impact in the world and that is our goal today. The Beni Mellal-Khénifra region is the most important destination for Intrepid Travel. And it is thanks to our partners and all stakeholders that we have achieved the expected objectives. It is very important for us to organize this event in the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region where we focus on rural regions. We have spent over 1,200 nights in this region in 2023 and the numbers continue to rise. We have more than a hundred employees working with us in Morocco and we are proud of the job opportunities we create and our true ambassadors are truly our guides on the ground. Without forgetting to say that we experienced difficult times during the earthquake which shook the Marrakech region and we are proud of the partnerships we have concluded with local NGOs…”. And added: “The 2030 strategy is human-oriented because the goal of Intrepid Travel is to create links and lasting human connection by taking advantage of an operational network of international scope but strongly anchored in culture local”.

For Younès Laraqui, president of the Regional Tourism Council (CRT) of Beni Mellal-Khénifra, this meeting is a laudable initiative which will allow us to participate in the promotion of tourism in this region which contains significant tourist potential on the national level and this thanks to a large number of socio-economic operators such as the Moroccan Tourism Office, the Regional Development Company (SDR), socio-economic partners, the CRI, the regional council, the CRT, travel agencies, etc.
“I am invited today by the CRT of Beni Mellal-Khénifra to participate in a meeting as part of the promotion of tourism in the region. Personalities from the tourism ecosystem who are involved in promoting the trekking and hiking sector participated in this press conference recognized by the 2023/2026 tourism roadmap at Beni Mellal-Khénifra. The SRD that I represent is a regional development company which was created as part of a public-private partnership. We are jointly carrying out an action plan which aims to promote tourism and achieve the expected objectives while encouraging initiatives like today’s,” said Mustapha Baairis, CEO of the SDR. Atlas.
