Intradel vs Alain Mathot: Liège Court of Appeal Decision and Uvelia Case Updates

2023-11-10 19:04:00

This Friday, a specially constituted chamber of the Liège Court of Appeal decided that Intradel’s civil party action once morest Alain Mathot in the Uvelia case was justified, including the interest relating to a sum of 700,000 euros since 2015.

As a reminder, on March 11, 2022, Alain Mathot was sentenced by the Liège Court of Appeal otherwise constituted to a suspended prison sentence of 12 months and 5 years of ineligibility for having committed corruption to favor the company Inova France during the award of the contract for the construction of the Uvelia incinerator at the Intradel factory located in Herstal. The court also imposed fines and reimbursement of 700,000 euros.

Decision partially overturned

The magistrates, however, dismissed Intradel’s application as a civil party. This part of the decision was the subject of a cassation. This time, following pleadings, the specially constituted court of appeal said that Intradel’s filing as a civil party was justified. The aspect concerning the attribution of confiscation, possibly to Intradel, will be argued in January. The interests of Intradel are ensured by Me Eric Lemmens.
