Innovation is the focus: AirportCity Space will now become the “Vienna Airport Conference & Innovation Center”
Vienna Airport (OTS) – Innovation creates competitive advantages – that was the conclusion at the “Innovation Kick-off 2024”, which took place today, January 16, 2024, at Vienna Airport. Over 350 interested guests found out about current innovation trends and developments during exciting keynotes, lively discussions, live pitches with creative start-ups and interactive workshops. High-profile speakers such as Olympic ski jumping champion Thomas Morgenstern and well-known managers explained their approaches to the topic of innovation and what they believe is necessary to be innovative as a company. The event center in the heart of AirportCity provided the perfect setting for the start of innovation in 2024: The competence center for events in Office Park 4 now operates under the name Vienna Airport Conference & Innovation Center and, with 2,600 m² and various rooms, offers flexible solutions for events of all kinds.
“Those who are innovative are at the forefront of global competition. This also applies to aviation and that is why we as an airport also focus on innovation. To achieve this, we work intensively with creative national and international start-ups and work together to develop innovative solutions for our passengers. The heart of our competence center for innovation is our Vienna Airport Conference & Innovation Center in AirportCity,” says Vienna Airport board member Dr. Günther Ofner.
“As a top athlete, I was open to trends. I tried out a lot of things to push myself to my limits and further develop my performance. Innovation helped me to develop advantages over the competition – and accompanied my new start in aviation after ski jumping,” says Thomas Morgenstern, successful Austrian ski jumper and Olympic champion.

Vienna Airport offered exciting insights and a platform for networking at the “Innovation Kick-off 2024”: After a welcome from AirportCity Space Managing Director Christoph Schmidt and Dejan Jovicevic (Co-Founder and CEO Brutkasten), guests at the event expected several discussions and a keynote speech from Thomas, for example Morgenstern (Austrian ski jumper and Olympic champion). Franziska Hecht (Partner & Head of Innovation Culture & Competence at the Ventury), Susanne Riess (CEO Wüstenrot Group), Leo Bonengl (Co-Founder checkfelix) and Martin Ohneberg (CEO of the Henn Connector Group) and Günther Ofner (Board Member of Fluhafen Wien AG ) encouraged discussion of the topic of innovation and invited discussion. Start-up pitches and interactive workshops rounded off the program.

The location of the event was the Vienna Airport Conference & Innovation Center at Vienna Airport. With a total of over 2600 m² of event space, it is the perfect location for events of all sizes. With various rooms with capacities for up to 650 people, state-of-the-art multimedia and conference technology and flexible settings, all kinds of events can be held. By the way, all rooms have natural light and access to the large terrace. All event areas at Vienna Airport can be booked through the Conference & Innovation Center team – including probably the most spectacular location: “Level 22” on the 22nd floor of the tower with an impressive view over the entire airport region.

Closer to Vienna city center than other event and office locations
With the ÖBB you can get from the airport to Vienna Central Station in just a few minutes and with the S7 to Vienna-Mitte. If you come by car, park in the nearby parking garage 3 and reach the Vienna Airport Conference & Innovation Center via a covered pedestrian bridge. The City Airport Train takes you directly from Vienna city center to the airport in just 16 minutes.
