JOOST D’OLERON (415) will depart from Altair AwardFriday, at Vincennes (R-1). Our journalist Stéphane Davy went to meet his trainer, Stephen Stevens (photo).
Stefan, what can you tell us regarding yourself?
I have always worked in Belgium. For six years, I have worked for the Campus stable, not far from Ghent. We have regarding thirty horses, many of them young.
Friday, you line up a starter in Vincennes. What can you tell us?
I qualified him at the Croisé-Laroche, a track on which he also started with a 3rd place. Subsequently, he joined the staff of Matthew Abrivard. He then returned home last year and the “boss” wanted to see his horse run in Cagnes-sur-Mer. Also, he left to carry out the winter meeting at the martens brothers. He signed three victories there before returning once once more to the stable. He gained strength. It is moving in the right direction. It’s csotaud and, in my opinion, it will still improve. He has speed and staying power. It is complete. The Grande Piste de Vincennes should not bother him. Especially since it will be equipped with small lightweight aluminum irons. It will be a bit like the last time in Cagnes-sur-Mer, when he won deferré with bells. He hasn’t raced since the beginning of the year but the horse has work to do. I present it to Vincennes because it has nothing good to run otherwise. In addition, he finds himself well engaged in this race. He is a quality horse. He must have a chance.
