After launching his business from his home in 2020, Thomas Lebrasseur has just opened a detailing garage in Bosgouët (Eure). He refurbishes the bodywork of mainly sporty and valuable cars.
For non-experts, how would you define detailing?
Thomas Lebrasseur: This involves refurbishing the bodywork of a vehicle, protecting it and making it shine. For example, garages like mine that do detailing will erase scratches, stone impacts, dog scratches, etc. And carry out polishing work by cutting off the rough edges of varnish and applying ceramic. I also renovate vehicle interior plastics and leathers.
What customers are you targeting?
I adapt to all budgets so that people leave with a perfect car. But in general, I tend to receive valuable, sporty or luxury vehicles: cars, motorcycles, trucks and even jet skis. 80% of my customers are individuals. I have cars that the individual drives on lease, before returning them. I also work for garages who ask me to prepare used or new vehicles, or to prepare cars for a wedding.
Why did you choose to settle near Bourg-Achard?
Initially, I worked at home, in Campigny, in my garage. I created my company in 2020. When I had to work on large vehicles, I went to individuals’ homes or directly to dealerships. Bosgouet is very well located, just off the highway.
Before specializing in detailing, did you already work in a profession related to automobile mechanics?
No not at all. After obtaining my professional accounting management baccalaureate, I left for the army. Between 2016 and 2021, I was a soldier in the infantry.
In this case, what pushed you to retrain?
I am passionate about motor sports. And I’ve always been very particular about my cars. I hate seeing a scratched car. My customers who leave their cars with me are like me. They are very finicky!
