Intervention and seizure of illegal cryptocurrency farm in Alto Paraná

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The National Electricity Administration (ANDE) carried out a new intervention of a supply dedicated to crypto mining with irregular connection to the medium voltage networks, in Hernandarias, Alto Paraná. Two transformers and other equipment were seized, avoiding a loss exceeding G. 387 million.

The procedure was carried out in a wooded area with difficult access in Colonia Acaray, Super Carretera km 46, city of Hernandarias, Alto Paraná.

On this occasion, a 3,150 kVA transformer was removed, as well as 15 cryptomining processors that appear to be damaged, as well as 345 meters of isolated conductors used as a medium voltage connection and 300 meters of bare conductors that functioned as an internal medium voltage line in an irregular manner. All of the above was sent to the Ciudad del Este Prosecutor’s Office Depot.

In addition, a single-phase transformer with housing number 16665 was removed from the property and will be deposited at ANDE.

The intervention was led by prosecutor Alcides Jiménez, who, accompanied by lawyers Nelson Cardozo and Ceber Maidana, representatives of Mr. Qingming Sun, an eastern citizen, as well as intervening officials from ANDE, proceeded to raid the premises dedicated to crypto mining.

Through the aforementioned actions, ANDE avoided a monthly loss of approximately Gs. 387,791,776 in unbilled electricity. This amount, added to the intervention costs and the application of fines according to Law 966/64, must be paid by the person responsible for the supply involved.
