Intervene before Islamic extremists take over Nigeria: Nigerian bishop pleads for help in UK parliament

ABUJA: Nigerian bishops in UK Parliament to plead for intervention before Islamic extremists take over Nigeria like in Afghanistan. Ondo Diocese Bishop Jude Arogundade has called for the urgent intervention of the UK Parliament as efforts to implement Sharia law in Nigeria are gaining momentum.

Addressing the UK Parliament, the Bishop urged the Nigerian government to put pressure on the Nigerian government to end the genocide once morest Christians and seek the help of other countries for that purpose. “The Muhammadu Buhari administration should be asked to protect religious minorities using all legal and political means.”

Terrorist organizations such as Boko Haram, the Islamic State of West Africa Province and the Fulani aim to enforce Islamic law in Nigeria. Christians are the biggest victims of terrorism. It has become common here that terrorists kill innocent people even in broad daylight.

Referring to the number of killings that have taken place in Nigeria since Buhari became president, the bishop called for urgent intervention from the UK government. “More than 3478 people have been killed since Buhari came to power in 2015. The number of abductees is more than 2,256. The world will shake when the new figures come out later this year,’ he said.
