“Intertwining feelings” achieved the Viva Venezuela festival in Lara

Placing dance, dances, rhythms and traditional Venezuelan music first, the third Viva Venezuela Mi Patria Querida World Festival is taking place in the state of Lara (Barquisimeto), as highlighted by the Minister of Culture, Ernesto Villegas Poljak.

Through the experience of this festival that is taking place, simultaneously, in different communities in the states of Falcón (Coro), Yaracuy (San Felipe), Zulia (Maracaibo) and Lara (Barquisimeto), Villegas Poljak expressed that he was “seeing circulate the Venezuelan identity expressed in a diversity that gives us cohesion and identity” referring to the Korean, Yaracuyano, Zuliano and Larense demonyms.

The traditional stands out in the expressions of dances, music and rhythms transmitted from generation to generation and that have given spiritual and historical life to each of the towns.

Another of the objectives of the national cultural meeting that is now in its third version, explained the writer and journalist Villegas, is to “interweave feelings”; referring to the fact that the Zulians dance El Tamunangue, the Larenses the gaitas; and, in turn, the Koreans exchange the religious syncretism of María Lionza de Yaracuy and the latter enjoy Falcón’s drum gaitas.

From his participation in Plaza Bolívar in El Tocuyo, capital of the Morán municipality, in the state of Lara, Villegas stressed that “with cultural diversity we are weaving a better future for our country” according to his statements for VTV.

He also expressed his excitement at seeing the cultural power that is El Tocuyo, where the Artisan Fair was held jointly, which allowed the sharing of knowledge between different cultivators.

He assured that “nothing is going to stop us on the path of increasingly enhancing our cultural heritage. And know that the Great Mission Viva Venezuela Mi Patria Querida is here to stay.”

Active children at the festival

In what corresponds to the Palavecino municipality (Cabudare), the Institute of Culture of this town, headed by Professor Esaario Sosa, managed to activate several folklore groups made up of children and adolescents.

A wide variety of traditional groups from this town participated in the festival, which was extended until this Tuesday, July 9, the date on which they performed at the San Antonio “El Negrito” chapel, located in Los Rastrojos, capital of the parish. José Gregorio Bastidas.
