The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) arrested this Saturday a Peruvian citizen residing in Chile, for an arrest warrant pending for the crime of rape against a minor.

This is a 43-year-old man who committed the crime in Peru in 2011 and then left the country. Since then, an international red alert notification has been activated to capture the subject.

Interpol managed to determine that the individual was living in Santiago, before which the Supreme Court issued an arrest warrant, at the request of the Peruvian judicial authorities.

The work was successfully completed by Chilean international police detectives, as confirmed by the sub-prefect Ernesto Moeller, head of the Interpol Santiago National Central Office.

“In coordination with Interpol of Peru, it was later established that the person was at an address in the southern sector of the capitalwhere his arrest was made yesterday,” said the detective.

The detainee “became available to the Supreme Court, where his subsequent situation will be resolved,” explained the sub-prefect.
