“Real-time network data shows internet connectivity is being restored in #Gaza,” the company wrote on the X platform.
Shortly after 4 p.m. local (and Lithuanian) time, an AFP reporter in Gaza City reported that he was able to use the Internet and said that he managed to contact people in the southern part of the enclave by phone.
Internet and telephone services have been cut across the entire Gaza Strip since Friday amid Israel’s bombardment of the territory.
After Hamas militants, which rule the Gaza Strip, invaded the Jewish state on Oct. 7, killing 1,400 people, mostly civilians, and taking 230 hostages, according to Israeli officials, Israel launched a wide-ranging bombing campaign.
On Saturday, the Hamas-controlled health ministry said that since then, more than 8,000 people, half of them children, have been killed in the Gaza Strip as a result of Israel’s continued airstrikes.
The Palestinian Red Crescent said the outage blocked emergency calls and disrupted critical emergency services.
