At the end of the week, the fantasy role-playing game “Elden Ring”, the latest project by the Japanese developer studio From Software, known for titles such as “Dark Souls”, “Bloodborne” or “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice”, will see the light of day.

Since the review embargo fell today, the first international reviews or test ratings are arriving in these hours. And these are very positive to euphoric. Not only in our test did “Elden Ring” get a dream rating of 9.5 out of 10 possible points. Other magazines chimed in, praising From Software’s new role-playing adventure for its vibrant open world, massive scale, and flawless balancing.

In the conclusion of the colleagues from IGN (10/10) it says for example: “It’s no exaggeration to say that Elden Ring is FromSoftware’s biggest and most ambitious game to date. And this ambition has more than paid off. Even following 87 hours of blood, sweat and tears that included some of the most challenging fights I’ve ever fought and countless surprises, there are still bosses I left open, secrets I have yet to uncover, side quests that I missed tons of weapons, spells and abilities that I never used.”

The editors of VG247 (5/5), on the other hand, stated: “What ultimately matters is that Elden Ring achieves almost every goal it sets out to achieve. It’s the culmination of years of refinement of the From Software formula. Mechanically and thematically, this is a game that makes a statement: that you can buck the trends of the industry even as you adopt its trends.”

Also at GameSpot (10/10) one is enthusiastic: “In a genre defined by bloated and overdesigned games, Elden Ring is defiantly contrarian in almost every way. Putting its dedication to design and the responsibility of finding a path through its world entirely on the player makes it superior to other open-world titles. Elden Ring takes the shards of what came before and forges them into something that will go down in history as one of the greats of all time: a triumph of design and creativity, and an open-world game characterized by what it does.”
