Rabat – The Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco is organising, on May 25 and 26, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, an international symposium entitled “And if Africa rewrote the History of Africa? Realities, limits and perspectives of African historiography”.
The opening session of this symposium, scheduled for Thursday at 5:30 p.m., will be marked by speeches by the Permanent Secretary of the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco, Abdeljalil Lahjomri, and the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, which will be followed by an inaugural conference on “Pan-Africanism: from yesterday to tomorrow” by Souleymane Bachir Diagne, professor at Columbia University, in the United States, indicates a press release from the Academy.
The symposium, which will see the participation of historians, philosophers and academics, “will address the different aspects of this nationalism, born of the will of several African intellectuals who returned to their country in the middle of the 20th century, following having studied in European universities, American and Russian, to restore its letters of nobility to the continent and to revalue its glorious history”, explains the same source.
